Hello and Happy Holidays to you!
I am wanting to purchase night vision goggles/binoculars for my Dad for Christmas and I have no idea what I should be looking for. He lives out in the country (town is 16 miles away) and this would be for looking for critters. We had bear tracks in our garden and of course for watching the deer and what have you. He also enjoys looking at the stars too. I realize the old saying "you get what you pay for" and as much as I love my Papa one has limits at least monetarily. So any advice on what I should be looking for, where to find some would be greatly appreciated.

Check at http://www.opticsplanet.com/ for a good variety of night vision devices. All types, all price ranges. They do a good job explaining the different uses of the different units. I will not attempt to advise which one to get, you know better than me what his needs are. You really should talk with him about this before purchasing since there are so many different models. Do a search for night vision, there are many other places to get them besides this one. I recommend this one because I have dealt with them several times. If you decide on a particular model do a search for that model, prices can vary quite a bit.
