Best depends on several different requirements. In certain instances given certain requirements they might prove better other binoculars in meeting those requirements. Canon has a reputation for making products that are excellent. I have no doubt that for certain situations these binoculars might prove to be the best. But overall most birders would choose a different binocular. In fact I do not believe I have ever seen a birder use a pair of the stabilized binoculars. As for telescopes, I am sure that there would be situations where these would be better, the 18x50 that is because they could be used without a tripod; but they are very expensive. You can buy a pretty good spotting scope for 00. One that is considerably more powerful than 18 power.
