Need new Binoculars in the 30-40 dollar range

Question by Snoopy: Need new Binoculars in the 30-40 dollar range
I went on a whitewater rafting trip w/ my so-called waterproof binoculars. It didn't work out that way but the warranty is expired, so I need a new pair. The other ones were 24 dollars, a bit cheap. I'm thinking 30-40 dollar range. They don't need to be tiny, but definitely not large. They don't need to be that great, but best for that ;price-range. I'm also wondering that if I was to go hunting what kind of money I'd need to spend.
They don't need to be waterproof.

  1. $24 for your first pair — Now you want to spend $30 to $40 for the next pair?…. Your basically making a big step sideways…. The quality wont be much better……. I like nice binoculars as much as the next guy but forking over $500 for a decent pair is nuts… Do what I did. Get around to house sales and flea markets…. I just scored a pair of 30 year old Tasco binoculars for $8…. I was absolutely blown away by the optics these glasses have… New Tasco’s aren’t even that nice….. If you want an absolutely minimum price I would say for new you would be in the $150 range before you get somewhat decent optics….. OR – Run a wanted add on craigslist for binoculars and see what comes up….. And of course check out Ebay…. There are lots of sellers pushing cheap binoculars their…. I bought a pair for $60 and it took about 3 years before they got crapped out and foggy…. Money well spent but no family treasure…..
