Elbow Support For Your Tripod – Photography Tip.
www.clickherephotographytips.com This item can be very useful when changing the angle of your camera from the horizontal (landscape) to the vertical (portrait) position Sometimes it can be a little time consuming changing the angle of your camera as you may need to check and then re-check the angle either thru the lens, or; you may have to re-align the spirit leveling device on your tripod You may even miss that vital shot that really makes an impact on the wedding, or; that photo you have been waiting to take during the special event you are photographing. Once again, this device is not essential, actually; I hadnt even heard of it a few months ago although I am almost certain that they have been in use for a long time The advantage of using an elbow attachment for your tripod is that, you do not need to continually re-level the tripod after you have leveled it correctly into position the first time. With the camera securely attached to the elbow support, your shots should be level regardless of the mode that you are photographing be it portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal). Once again, I hope that you enjoy this video Cheers Dean.

It’s commonly known as a L Plate. I have a rather brilliant one from RRS for my D200 and Arca Swiss Z1 head. RRS (among others) custom make them for various bodies.
