Eyes and Their Care (1941) (DVD)
This insightful educational film explores the inner workings of the human eye, its care, and its diseases - plus somewhat graphic footage of eye injuries. The first part shows how eyes are used and how vision is discovered at the early stage of development of an infant. We learn through animated diagrams how the mechanism of the eye works. Eye problems like astigmatism are discussed as well as why a person might need glasses and how they correct vision problems like nearsightedness and farsightedness. Then the film becomes more intense. We see a person with a nasty advanced stye (an infection), as well as a doctor removing a bit of metal out of an eye. Not necessarily for the faint of heart, this classic movie contains great information and biting historical footage.
